Post subject:  TODD ROSE GUITAR RAFFLE TO BENEFIT NONPROFIT FARM INITIATIVE

Greetings, OLF community,

Early this spring, my wife and I launched a new not-for-profit initiative called Morningsong Community Service Farm. The mission is to address the pressing issue of food insecurity and help ensure that every person in our community has enough fresh, nutritious food to eat. Please take a few minutes, if you can, to check out our web site:

http://www.morningsongcsfarm.org/

We also have a facebook page:

http://www.facebook.com/Morningsong-Community-Service-Farm-730595310417115

To help raise funds for the project, I've donated one of my guitars to be raffled off. We hope this can raise a substantial sum of money to help further the farm's mission.

http://www.morningsongcsfarm.org/events/

I imagine there are many among you who can appreciate this unique guitar and wouldn't mind having it to play, and I hope the OLF community can help us achieve success with this fundraising effort. The simplest way to get the details and enter the raffle is to click on the link above. That page includes photos of the guitar and vids of it being played, but here are a few pics to entice you.

Since you all are guitar geeks, I'll add a few details to the description given in the page linked above. Ziricote fretboard, bridge, and headplates (to match back and sides); elevated/floating fretboard extension; interior CF strut system; evo gold frets; Schaller gold tuners with ebony knobs; ebony bridge pins with brass dot inlays; eucalyptus burl rosette (matching heel cap and end graft); walnut bindings to match walnut neck.

Note that the raffle is underway; all entries must be received by midnight Dec 18 (but the sooner, the better!); the drawing will be held on Dec 19 and the winner will be notified immediately following. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks in advance for supporting this not-for-profit farm initiative, and good luck with the raffle!

Best regards to all,
Todd Rose

That is a beauty, Todd. And a terrific cause. I wish you and the initiative much success.

I hope all OLF folks will spread the word.

Wow that is a beauty. I might just have to take a chance or two on that one :)

Am I seeing some sort of inlay on the heal or is that shadow?

Thanks! Please do!

What you're seeing is this: the heel has an ebony core with the grain running vertically; it is also reinforced with carbon fiber, which you can't see. This is what gives the heel the necessary rigidity for the way the neck is joined to the body with an elevated and floating fretboard extension.

I seem to find all the hidden glitches. I tried to PayPal a donation for the raffle, but keep getting an error message on the $12.50 amount button. Taking US Dollars, right?

Dang, Brad. Sorry for the trouble! Yes, U.S. dollars. Don't know why you're having trouble. Haven't heard of anyone else running into this. If you have a PayPal account, rather than clicking on the donate button on the farm web site, you could make a donation by just going to your PayPal account and sending a gift to morningsongcsf@gmail.com. Maybe that would circumvent the glitch?

I hate to ask you to go to extra trouble... we sure do appreciate your support... if all else fails, you could send a check (address is given on this page - http://www.morningsongcsfarm.org/events/).

Please let me know if the PayPal glitch persists. That's a bummer.

Thanks!!!

Nice Guitar, Todd. Might have to learn to play a steel string if I win! No problems making the donation through PayPal.

Just a friendly reminder that the raffle drawing is coming up soon now. The last day to enter the raffle is Sun Dec 18. All mailed-in entries must be received by that day as well. The drawing will be on Dec 19.

If you've been thinking about entering, don't wait too long! Your support for Morningsong Community Service Farm's mission would be greatly appreciated, and, who knows, you could be the winner of this guitar!

We had a very nice and well-attended benefit event for the farm last weekend, with some excellent local artists performing -- Travis Knapp, Tenzin Chopak, and Amy Puryear. Here's a pic of the three of them on stage, with Tenzin in the middle playing the guitar being raffled. Tenzin, a great player and a man of few words (even his song lyrics are concise), had this simple comment to say: "This is a great guitar."

Thanks for your interest and support, and good luck!

Big thanks to all those who entered the raffle with your generous donations to Morningsong Community Service Farm! We really appreciate your support. We had the drawing on Dec 19. The guitar is now being enjoyed by the winner and her husband, and it will be played on stage with their band, Uncle Joe and the Rosebud Ramblers. The lucky thing for me is that I'll get to see them and the guitar from time to time. With 300 entries, the majority of them being from people spread far and wide, the winner happened to be someone who lives less than an hour from me.

Thanks again!
